ERSC Junior Shooting Program Starts!
Greetings ERSC members. The 2008 ERSC Junior air rifle and small bore rifle program starts Monday January 14, 2008 at 6:00 PM until 8:30PM. It runs for 13 Mondays total (ten sessions with three snow/makeup days). The last session is Monday April 7th. The program is open to all Club juniors between third grade (age 9 or 10) through the first year of college (19) as long as they are in school. There is no fee for family members of the ERSC. Snacks will be provided between rounds of shooting. Completing 15 hours of shooting time during this program qualifies shooters to compete in the 4-H State Shoot this Fall.
The program meets at the Sherburne County Sheriff’s indoor shooting range located at the back of the Courthouse in Elk River, MN. Use of the range is donated by the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office for ERSC and Sherburne County 4H use so the programs are run together on the same night.
Since ERSC youth will be shooting alongside the 4-H youth, a completed 4-H
parental consent form and
registration form are required from all parents for 4-H insurance reasons.
(you may still sign up, despite being after the cutoff date on the form)
These forms
are available on the links above, and can also be obtained from the Extension office in the courthouse or during the first session attended. For safety reasons at least one of each child’s parents is
required to stay at the range with their children as they shoot. Parents are encouraged to observe and work with their children in the range as their children shoot.
Please contact John Grovender, acting ERSC Jr. Chair and 4-H instructor for these events at
jgrovender@symantec.com or by phone at: 612 840-7027 for more information.
