| Membership in the Elk River Sportsman's Club requires
sponsorship by an existing member (see hints below for finding one). The existing member must be a
member in good standing, and must have completed their 8 hour work credit
the previous year.
The cost of membership the first year is $150 Initiation Fee and $150 Membership Dues for a total of $300
(plus tax) to be paid at the Club Meeting when the new member is accepted into the Club. After the first year, the Membership Dues are $150 (Without 8 hours of Work Credit ) and $100 (With 8 hours of Work Credit).
New members must submit (a copy
of) either a current "permit to acquire a handgun" or current
"permit to carry". This does NOT mean a member must own,
nor use a handgun.
For more info, you may download the 2011 new member
cover
letter that explains the whole process.
The bylaws of the club specify a maximum number of members. Each
year, following membership renewal, a limited number of memberships become
available. It is possible that even if you are sponsored, and an
ideal candidate for membership, you may not be able to join due to the
maximum limit.
If you know of a member who will sponsor you, then click
here for a 2011 membership application or have your sponsor pick up a New Membership Application at the Club House or from the Corresponding Secretary at a Club Meeting. New Membership Applications will not be accepted by the
Membership Secretary prior to November 1st of the preceding year.
****If you are someone who does not have a sponsor or you do not know anyone at
ERSC here are helpful hints to meet current members:
- Check out our club calendar and come out to club events. 95% are open to the
public.
- Come out to a meeting. Our monthly meetings are held at the clubhouse on the 3rd
Tues. of the month at 7pm. Make your presence known to an officer up front
before the meeting.
- Ask around your neighbors, friends and co-workers- many of our members have
sponsors that they know, but didn't realize they belonged to the Club. Many
times, if one guy at work belongs over a few years many of his family,
neighbors, friends and co workers become members through that one person.
- Be proactive. Don't wait until the last minute (we start taking
applications Dec 1.). It is not the responsibility of the board or
officers to help new members find a sponsor.
